URMSTON'S REDEVELOPMENT

I would like to congratulate all those involved in ensuring the rapid progress of Urmston’s redevelopment, particularly ward Councillor Christine Turner.
Most of the delays to date have been unfortunate and unavoidable but now the final store has vacated the town centre, the next phase of the redevelopment can begin, with demolition starting on 3 March.
Like others, I am relieved that the car parks in Park Road, Hilton Avenue, and Sumner Way will all remain open, Sumner Way until at least June, and I am reassured that the contractors will minimise the time that any parking spaces have to be closed.
It is a fact of life that it is easier to criticise than praise, but I know there are many who remain positive about the future of Urmston town centre, and with this kind of attitude, I am sure their faith, along with mine, will be well-founded.
