DAVYHULME ENERGY SAVING PROJECT FUN DAY

Stretford and Urmston's Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Mark Versallion, attended the Fun Day on 18 July in support of their various efforts to help and encourage local residents save energy.

Organised by the Davyhulme Energy Saving Project (DESP) at the George Carnall Leisure Centre the day saw residents learning about energy saving from the various stalls on display.

Mark Versallion said, "These kind of Energy Saving Fun Days are a great opportunity to learn about how you can save energy at home in practical and useful ways and these stalls are a fun and engaging way to learn about this ever important subject."

Councillor Versallion added, "Saving Energy is not just good for your pocket of course, it is a key part of the overall strategy of reducing energy consumption and its often poluting consequences for climate change.

I deeply believe addressing climate change is an ethical matter, not just an economic or political one... and I'm proud that the Conservative Party supported the 2008 Climate Change Bill but I would like the government to go further than the five-yearly greenhouse gas targets, and make them annual."

The Project was set up by local residents and was supported by the Energy Saving Trust and Trafford Borough Council. You can learn more about the Energy Saving Trust's work at www.energysavingtrust.org.uk.
